Please don’t fucking log off tumblr on the 17th as a protest. All that’s going to do is give tumblr more reason to shut this place down because of revenue loss.

Please don’t fucking log off tumblr on the 17th as a protest. All that’s going to do is give tumblr more reason to shut this place down because of revenue loss.

This is blatantly untrue

Companies do not experience one day of revenue loss and pull the plug, destroying years of work and firing dozens if not hundreds of employees.

Companies which experience loss in revenue and consumer interest make investments and changes in order to ragain their users/customers. That’s why organized protests and boycotts WORK. Tumblr will NOT go down after one bad day or week, but they might be willing to listen to its userbase if we put up an organized protest. (If you don’t believe me, think about how long sites like MySpace and Google+ hang around with fractions of their previous user base, often for years.)

Yahoo paid over one billion dollars for Tumblr, and the website will not go offline because of a one-day event, so in conclusion,

DO log off on December 17th to show Tumblr that you disapprove of its recent content ban and clumsy execution of censorship.

Please reblog this version of the post to stop the spread of misinformation.

Female pilots edited out of the Star Wars movies.

I saw the tweets about this today, and I was like oh yeah, I remember hearing about that.

And then I saw the pictures and just— wow. What it would have meant to have these women in the movie, all this time. I can’t properly articulate it but it’s hitting me unexpectedly hard.

Wow thats a shame, even a nice old lady too.  These Space Valkyries  should have been left in.

They really should have.

ADSVFISIDCNCIDSVHIUEFUHFIDHuvririahfuwvrui4m8ywmu36 8hthfahuiharahfiargnihiurhurhaigoznifrbogirifrbgorbzo154+849848e54645w8va0

WHAT.

THE.

FUCK.

I lived, ate, and breathed Star Wars from age 2 until 2005 when RotS finally beat the enthusiasm out of me, and I have NEVER, EVER in all my reading on behind-the-scenes and makings-of heard of these shots. It’s a shame there was no relaunched edit of the original trilogy they could have slipped these in OH FUCKING WAIT THERE’S BEEN LIKE 3 OF THOSE NOW.

Fuck. FUCK. Whoever decided to edit out and bury these needs to french kiss an angle grinder.

I want to see the old lady in the A-Wing. Seriously, it’s like, she’s somebody’s grandma. Some kid in the Outer Rim Territories got greased by the Empire for seeing something she wasn’t supposed to see, and her grandma, the bush pilot, decided “Fuck this, I’m gonna strap on an fighter and make the Empire fucking PAY for the moment it decided to fuck with MY FAMILY.”

DON’T. MESS. WITH. GRANDMA.

These are quickly being put into the “always reblog” category.

Whenever there is a war, there are women who are warriors. Then they get erased from history. Happens in real wars and fictional ones alike.

Less than 5% of general aviation licenses go to women.  If these had been left in, you can bet that number would be higher.

^^^That knocked the breath out of me.

I just can’t believe they not only took them out, but refused to put them back in during the seventeen times they updated the movies. And of course the only possible explanation for this is: you do not belong here.

Literally though. How many stupid remasters have they done but THIS gets left out? Ugh

for the record the names of these characters are Sila Kott played by

Poppy Hands and Dorovio Bold played by Vivienne Chandler. I couldn’t find the name of the old woman though 😦

http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Dorovio_Bold
“As well as her appearance in the briefing, footage of the character in a cockpit during the Battle of Endor was also filmed, but not used in the final cut of the movie.”

http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Sila_Kott “Although played by British actress Poppy Hands in Return of the Jedi, Sila Kott was later dubbed over by an American man’s voice.”

reasons I’ve seen people staying on tumblr:

  • don’t understand twitter
  • don’t understand twitter
  • posts are in chronological order
  • spite
  • no other website has the same ambiance of gothic confusion and unrelatable obtuse content
  • they are a hapless pornbot who knows not of the end coming for their quivering female presenting nipples
  • mega spite
    •  like normal spite but you’re posting dick pics before The End
  • Direct Contact with the Memes
  • god, wht the fuk even is twitter
  • they tried to leave but woke up again on tumblr like it’s the Groundhog’s Day movie
  • To mentally and emotionally exhausted to deal with the entire shitstorm that is trying to find a site that offers the same range of posts + peer-to-peer chat that is NOT facebook and then backing up all your stuff and moving and trying very hard to remember all the places where you linked people to your tumblr and that you have to update all of those…

Quick tip for those who post art in Twitter:

penguin-official:

penguin-official:

penguin-official:

You can force Twitter to post the “raw” quality of your pics by adding one (1) pixel of transparency in the image.

Twitter uses some algorithm to compress images into .jpg, but it cannot do that if there’s transparency involved in the image, forcing it to be .png in its full quality.
Literally one singular pixel ANYWHERE counts for this, it can be on a corner if you don’t want it to be bothersome.

Figured some folks might be interested in this, considering Tumblr no longer supports the _raw trick.

For the sake of example instead of hearsay, I’ve posted a comparison in my Twitter here, but will also explain here. All images are 2000x2000px versions of my logo you can see on the top left of this post:

Here’s the original image without a background, in its original form.
Notice the .png on the filename title.

Here’s the image with a white background.
You can see Twitter turned it into a .jpg and youcan see compression artifacts surrounding it.

Here’s the image with a white background, but one pixel edged off.
Notice the .png back on the filename and the retaining of quality from the first picture compared to the compression from the second.

All it took was a simple thing:

Nothing else, nothing more. It retains the original quality as you posted it, isn’t very bothersome and can be easily filled up if someone finds it.

Since Tumblr removed the _raw image trick from availability, this is a good way to share high quality, high resolution pictures again with the world.

Cheers!

Once more but with feeling of exodus

I’m mixed Indian and Ashkenazi, so I wouldn’t qualify, but maybe some of my followers might?

Her blood is extremely rare because she is missing a common antigen called “Indian B.”

For a person to be a possible match for Zainab, they must also be missing the antigen, or her body will reject the blood.
