I have my own headcanon about this, let me explain here.

The witch needs something very peculiar for her next incantation, she needs to make a deal with a fairy to have a succesfull result of it. The nearest one was on the woods near from the Château Guillard. It was a Banshee, she knows how they are and she had a total selfconfidence, she always fulfilled what was proposed and a fairy was not going to be an exception.
But somehow, the Banshee already knows that a witch was looking for her, she ask first and start to speaks to her, trying her, laughing…with her. The Banshee seems to be more intelligent and interesting than the witch thought in the first place, but
She needs a Banshee for her incantation, no matter what, and that Banshee seems to know more than she looks, the witch is not going to give up until she gets what he wants.
