god stop defending bethesda they arent ur friend and using the same engine when it’s a broken mess and reselling broken messes to consumers isnt acceptable. dont stan million dollar companies. blizzard, bethesda, EA, none of them r ur friends
I find this ironic since the person who posted this makes fan art for Overwatch–One of Blizzard’s greatest IPs. And before you guys attack me because the game is similar to TF2…they made a way better version. “Game concept inspiration” happens everywhere. No one seems to care about how Fortnite straight up ripped off PUBG and Minecraft, in fact they idolize it. Blizzard has made some shitty mistakes lately, especially with the whole Diablo situation, but I really do feel like Blizzard cares about their fans (for the MOST PART, like maybe not their Diablo playerbase tho damn). They’ve raised a lot of money for charities and Overwatch brought a really inspiring, diverse game to the table that many people can enjoy. Same with WoW.
I can’t hate Blizzard at all. I mean, if they didn’t exist I wouldn’t have found my fiance and I’d still be a lonely, depressed loser.
i love overwatch, that doesnt make me blind, but nice try playing Gotcha! with me.
blizzard preys on children and gamblers. theyre a multimillion dollar company not your matchmaking buddy. get a backbone. it is a company comprised of thousands of people and the charity work coexists with the predatory microtransactions and the complete and utter absence of black female characters and the absence of any lgbt characters beyond tracer even though more were “promised”. theyre not your friend, when they fuck up theyre not worth defending. youre capable of critical thinking.
i dont really… WANT… to leave tumblr. ive been here since 2011
no other platform has the right format for me to just randomly barf actual thoughts, joaks, and genuine creative content all in the same breath. i dont know how to compartmentalize
every other platform you gotta be a real person. Here you are you’re icon and username and whatever your hyperfixation is at the current moment
on tumblr you can make a post that just says “minecraft” and get 50k notes, where on twitter you have to steal tweets and instagram you have to be hot. tumblr is more like a bunch of kids let loose in walmart where there are no rules and the only god is a bald swedish man
yall have no idea just how badly i want to cook some rice in gatorade
i hope to god im doing this right
im not sure how to feel about this
update: the gatorade didnt give the rice any flavor as i had hoped but the color is nice? Anyway i slapped some sweet chili sauce on it and now im eating the gatorade rice abomination while playing destiny 2
it looks fucking disgusting i know but it just tastes like rice
deleted a bunch of chronic pain and chronic illness posts from blogs they’ve left (like mine)
This isn’t just about ‘oh no you can’t look at people fucking anymore’ (even though lots of sex workers are losing their means of supporting themselves). This goes a lot further, with a lot more chilling effects.
The sexualizing of things like ‘top surgery’ or declaring all ‘trans’ tagged things to be … sexual… is really, REALLY fucked up. Never mind the fact that ‘chronic pain’ had NOTHING to do with sexiness, and we’ve been given no explanation as to why disabled people were considered acceptable collateral damage.
ALSO I had a post flagged earlier today for a cartoon picture of Mario in a bathing suit. Mario, from Super Mario Brothers.
Someone else reported a picture of a cartoon scorpion with a hard hat on being flagged as pornography. Tagging things as ‘queer’ or ‘gay’ gets them flagged NSFW. (Hey, guess what I’d been tagging my t-shirts, because they’re pride stuff? Oh right. Queer. Gay. Pride.)
This is a fucking problem, let’s not blow it off.
I know some people are too young (or simply weren’t involved in fandom back then) to remember what went down with livejournal and a couple of other sites “back in the day”, but it all started out as “it’s okay, we’re just removing the nasty porn”, and then “okay well, just make sure you put your porn behind a cut, no, wait jk you need to host it externally, a link is fine, maybe” and pretty much devolved swiftly into “actually sweety, LGBT content is inherently NSFW by default because it might make the kiddies gay if we expose them to it, so y’all need to leave now byyyeeee”.
Like…that happened. And it took nearly a decade for the fandom spaces to recover and stabilize and to get to the point where LGBT content creators could host their content without being told “you’re not welcome here” and I’m just sitting here, watching as youtube demonetizes LGBT content creators, and Facebook flags up LGBT ads as “inappropriate” and now tumblr is going through the queer and gay tags and just mass blanketing it as inappropriate, while actual pornbots and nazis wind up in my recommended feed.
(As an interesting aside: isn’t it funny how all these sites attribute these things to an algorithm error? Itsn’t that funny.)
Like I am uncomfortable y’all. I am looking around at everything I’ve built and all the friends I’ve made and I know we’re all looking for the next safe space to jump to while hoping we don’t lose each other overnight like “the olden days” where you’d wake up and your fave blogger was just gone.
And usually it was because they’d drawn or written something as simple yet explicit as a kiss. It was just the wrong kind of kiss.
So yea, the sky is not falling, but the ice under our feet sure is making worrying sounds.
This. I see a lot of talk about how “the tumblr ancients know tumblr will not die” and fam, I was an early adopter. I drifted in here after Strikethrough. (I’ve deleted and purged at least three accounts since then, before you say anything.) Livejournal still exists, you know? It’s not dead. It’s just not a place where fandom and fan communities or LGBTQAetc communities or living-with-disability communities want to be any more, because it was made clear that the owners didn’t want our sort. And what looked like the best possible alternative (hello Dreamwidth my old friend), a by-us for-us solution, kind of… didn’t exactly die on its ass, but most of the activity ended up here. (You know, on the scrolling blue hellsite that most of us agree is kind of a crock but it’s where the community is so we live with it.)
I don’t know where the fuck we’re all going to decamp to next – even the little indie platforms that are just building up might sell out some day because business be like that and the stuff that stays indie stays on a fucking shoestring and dates badly (hello again Dreamwidth, god looking at you is like going back in time and I didn’t enjoy 2009 the first time around).
I’m not looking forward to rebuilding a community and establishing new norms and all the teething troubles early Tumblr had when it suddenly got big. It’s fucking difficult and after the second go around it’s tiring, especially when people have forgotten – or were never there for – the last time a platform shit the bed while we were still in it. And on a personal note, I came over here because VtM Facebook does my nut in, Reddit has the attention span of a suicidal fruitfly, and Blogspot/G+ is full of OSR people stirring each other’s shit with a long spoon. And as much as I like WordPress, you’ve got to build a community from scratch over there. It’s not a good platform to have actual conversations on.
Anyway. Where was I? Oh yeah. The sky doesn’t have to fall. It just has to get low and threatening enough that people don’t want to be under it any more.
did you know that if you mock men for opening their hearts and being emotionally vulnerable, I’ll show up at your house and explain in great detail how disappointed i am in you
HOLY SHIT YOU GUYS I’VE GOT 7 DAYS TO FIGURE OUT MONEY. OBVIOUSLY I’M WORKING WITH INSURANCE AND THE BANK TO BUMP THAT NUMBER DOWN BUT FOR NOW i’M PUTTING UP A GOFUNDME
